African Union observer mission issues preliminary report on Uganda's general elections

In a preliminary report, the African Union observer mission, working with COMESA and IGAD, said the elections took place in a calmer environment than in 2021. According to the report as summarised by Xinhua, the mission also noted harassment of opposition figures, the suspension of some civil society organisations and the internet shutdown.
