International Actions Single source Uganda (national) 19 Jan 2026 Severity: 1/5

The African Union Election Observer Mission, led by former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, issued a preliminary report citing reports of intimidation, arbitrary arrests, abductions and excessive force against opposition candidates and supporters, civil society actors and journalists, according to ChimpReports. The mission also criticised the internet shutdown, the suspension of several NGOs three days before polling, and a security directive ordering voters to leave polling stations after voting, and recommended electoral and security-sector reforms.
