The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries told CropLife Uganda and licensed dealers that chemicals including alpha-cypermethrin, atrazine, butachlor, dimethoate and propanil will be phased out, with immediate import bans, and that others such as imidacloprid and profenofos will be restricted to specific uses, ChimpReports reported. The ministry said the decision followed a review by its Agricultural Chemicals Review Committee citing health, environmental and export-trade concerns.
