Anti-Corruption Court sentences ex-minister Agnes Nandutu to four years over Karamoja iron sheets

Justice & Court Rulings Verified Uganda (national) 10 Apr 2026 Severity: 2/5

Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga of the Anti-Corruption Court sentenced former State Minister for Karamoja Affairs Agnes Nandutu to four years in prison, following her conviction earlier in the week for dealing with suspect property, namely iron sheets meant for vulnerable communities in Karamoja. The judge also barred her from holding public office for ten years and ordered the recovered iron sheets returned to the Office of the Prime Minister. According to the Daily Monitor, the judge rejected restitution as grounds for leniency and called on Parliament to review penalties for corruption offences.

A national event, not tied to one district.
