At least seven Assistant Inspectors General of Police vacate offices at police headquarters

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) May 2026 (day not reported) Severity: 1/5

According to the Daily Monitor, citing unnamed sources, at least seven officers at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police handed over to their deputies and returned official equipment, including vehicles, earlier in May. The reasons are unclear: the paper reports that police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma did not respond, and that observers link the exits either to contract expiry or to the government's rationalisation (RAPEX) programme.

A national event, not tied to one district.
