Corruption & Abuse of Office Disputed Uganda (national) Date not reported · first reported 5 Sep 2025 Severity: 1/5

According to the Daily Monitor, the Auditor General's 2023 annual report found that heavy equipment worth Shs10.58 billion under the government tractor programme was registered with private number plates instead of government plates, and 35 tractors were distributed without plates. A Ministry of Agriculture commissioner, Boniface Okanya, told the paper there was no wrongdoing and blamed delays in the issue of number plates by the Ministry of Works.

A national event, not tied to one district.

Disputed: The Auditor General reports the tractors were given private plates, while the ministry says these were government duty-free plates and the delay was caused by the Ministry of Works.
