Babiito royal clan rejects Attorney General's advice on Tooro succession

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 14 Sep 2026 Severity: 1/5

Babiito clan spokesperson Fr Charles Oyo told Uganda Radio Network that the Attorney General's opinion was addressed to the President and did not require the clan to act. He said the clan stands by its committee's selection of Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, while members of the late king's family, including the Queen Mother, maintain that the purported will should guide the succession.

A national event, not tied to one district.
