Bugweri County MP Abdul Katuntu was nominated as an independent candidate at the Bugweri District Electoral Commission offices in Busesa, according to Nile Post. After his nomination he warned state officers against taking part in partisan politics during the 2026 elections and said his team holds video evidence of some officers engaging in such activity.
