Cabinet approves plan to restock insurgency-affected households in northern Uganda with cattle

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) Feb 2026 (day not reported) Severity: 1/5

ICT and National Guidance Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi told journalists in Kampala that Cabinet had approved a plan to give five heifers to each targeted household in Acholi, Lango and Teso affected by insurgency, starting in the new financial year. He said distribution would go directly to households through Parish Development Model officials, without middlemen, and admitted that earlier compensation efforts had failed because of corruption; the article reports at least 76 billion shillings set aside over five years.

A national event, not tied to one district.
