Campaigns open for 2,703 parliamentary candidates; eight NRM candidates unopposed

According to the Daily Monitor, campaigns for 519 parliamentary seats opened on 10 November for 2,703 of the 2,711 candidates nominated by the Electoral Commission, with eight NRM candidates, including Speaker Anita Among and Thomas Tayebwa, going through unopposed. The campaign period runs until 13 January 2026 ahead of the 15 January polls. EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi urged candidates to campaign peacefully and avoid bribery and misinformation.
