COSASE questions presidential-directive rent waivers and land leases by Uganda Property Holdings

Corruption & Abuse of Office Verified Uganda (national) 2026 (month not reported) Severity: 1/5

Parliament's COSASE committee raised concerns after a one-week oversight visit to government properties in Mombasa, Kenya, managed by Uganda Property Holdings Limited (UPHL). According to committee chair Muwada Nkunyingi, UPHL said Shs4.08 billion in rent arrears owed by Unifreight Cargo Handling had been waived under a presidential directive, and land including plots in Bugolobi had been leased under similar directives; the committee said it would establish whether these followed the law. UPHL's managing director said no property had been disposed of and all titles were secure.

A national event, not tied to one district.
