Court of Appeal dismisses ex-minister Kitutu's bid to merge her two Karamoja corruption prosecutions

According to the Daily Monitor, a three-justice Court of Appeal panel led by Deputy Chief Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi unanimously dismissed former Karamoja Affairs Minister Mary Goretti Kitutu's appeal against a February 2024 High Court decision allowing separate prosecutions by the DPP and the Inspectorate of Government. The court found the two cases involved distinct transactions and allegations and that her right to a fair hearing had not been infringed; the Anti-Corruption Court is to give directions on the cases on October 12.
