Departed Asian Properties Custodian Board begins verifying over 200 property claims

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) Dec 2025 (day not reported) Severity: 1/5

The Departed Asian Properties Custodian Board has started verifying more than 200 claims to properties left by Asians expelled in 1972, after a six-month deadline for claimants to prove ownership expired, the Daily Monitor reports. Executive secretary George William Bizibu said the board expects to finish by March 2026 and will then decide on unclaimed properties, with auctioning among the options; a Masaka landlords' forum official said the verification was unnecessary.

A national event, not tied to one district.
