DP petitions Electoral Commission, alleging candidates were denied nomination in four districts

At a press briefing at its Kampala headquarters, Democratic Party Secretary General Gerald Siranda said the party had petitioned the Electoral Commission over candidates it says were unfairly turned away from nomination in Kalangala, Amuria, Pallisa and Buyende. According to Siranda, officials in some cases demanded extra signatures and then told candidates the system had closed; he asked the EC to review the cases and nominate those affected.
