DP wins five Acholi parliamentary seats; two state ministers lose seats in sub-region

According to the Daily Monitor, the Democratic Party won five parliamentary seats in the Acholi Sub-region in the general elections, including Justice Minister and DP president Norbert Mao in Laroo–Pece Division, Gulu City. The paper reports that 11 sitting MPs in the sub-region lost their seats, among them State Minister for the Environment Beatrice Anywar (Kitgum Municipality) and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Henry Oryem Okello (Chua East County).
