Ebola task force closes Uganda's border with DRC and orders 21-day self-isolation for returnees

The National Task Force on Ebola Response, chaired by Vice President Jessica Alupo, decided to close Uganda's border with the DRC with immediate effect for about four weeks, according to Health Permanent Secretary Dr Diana Atwine. Exceptions were made for Ebola response teams, humanitarian operations, food and cargo, and security personnel, and people returning from the DRC were ordered into 21 days of self-isolation. The directives also required border-district schools to monitor returning students and media houses to air at least 30 minutes of daily prime-time Ebola education.
