EC chairperson Byabakama asks Supreme Court to dismiss Kasibante's presidential election petition

Electoral Commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama filed an affidavit asking the Supreme Court to strike out, with costs, Robert Kasibante's petition against President Museveni's re-election, according to the Daily Monitor. He argued that the 15 January election complied with the law and that any non-compliance did not substantially affect the result. He acknowledged problems with the biometric verification kits but said the Commission dealt with them lawfully.
