EC concludes re-evaluation of ballot printing bids; sources say foreign firms keep the contract

Election Related Verified Uganda (national) 17 Nov 2020 Severity: 1/5

EC spokesperson Paul Bukenya confirmed that the re-evaluation of ballot printing bids ordered by PPDA had been concluded and a report written, but declined to give details, the Daily Monitor reports. Unnamed sources close to the EC told the paper that the evaluation committee recommended that the foreign firms first awarded the deal keep it, saying local printers lacked capacity; PPDA head Benson Turamye said the EC had written to say it had implemented PPDA's recommendations.

A national event, not tied to one district.
