EC limits candidates to two supporters at venues as district council nominations begin

Election Related Verified Uganda (national) 3 Sep 2025 Severity: 1/5

The Electoral Commission began a three-day nomination exercise for district chairpersons, city mayors, councillors and special interest representatives on 3 September 2025, the Daily Monitor reports. Nationwide, the EC allowed candidates only a proposer and a seconder at nomination venues; in Lira City the paper says candidates left quietly without the usual processions, and a UPC candidate welcomed the rule as reducing violence.

A national event, not tied to one district.
