Education Ministry directs schools to let all registered UCE candidates sit exams despite unpaid fees

The Ministry of Education and Sports, through spokesperson Dr Dennis Mugimba, said Acting Minister Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo had directed that every UNEB-registered candidate be allowed to sit end-of-cycle examinations regardless of outstanding fees. Headteachers are instead to ask UNEB to withhold results of candidates with arrears, with no penalty attached. The Daily Monitor reports the directive followed complaints that some schools had blocked candidates over fees; UNEB said a candidate in Bugiri District was turned away on the opening day.
