Electoral Commission begins paying allowances to temporary election staff after delays

The Daily Monitor reports that the Electoral Commission has started paying allowances, in cash through district Returning Officers, to temporary staff who served in the 2025-2026 general elections, after public criticism over delays. Commission Secretary Richard Baabo Kamugisha said on the Commission's X account that all eligible officials would be paid after verification. Special Police Constables in Akere Division, Apac District, said they had been paid for only two of three months worked.
