Election Related Single source Uganda (national) 9 Jan 2026 Severity: 1/5

EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama told the media that voters should go home after casting their ballots in the January 15 general elections, saying long gatherings of rival supporters could lead to disorder, according to ChimpReports. The statement followed calls by NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu for supporters to stay at polling stations to 'protect the vote'; Byabakama acknowledged the law allows voters to stay 20 metres from the polling table and said party agents may remain throughout.

A national event, not tied to one district.
