Electoral Commission orders repeat LC1 polls in 1,135 villages for 1 August

Electoral Commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama told journalists at EC headquarters that fresh LC1 elections would be held on Saturday 1 August in villages where polling failed, according to the Daily Monitor. He set fresh registration and nominations for 30 July where registers were destroyed or candidates had died, and warned that the law would be applied against anyone planning to disrupt the repeat polls.
