According to NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya, the Electoral Commission told the party it had not submitted enough supporter signatures to nominate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu for president, days before the nomination deadline. Rubongoya said the party had submitted signatures from more than 98 districts and accused the commission of trying to block the candidacy; Kyagulanyi said security operatives had been pressuring supporters to deny signing. The Observer reports the EC spokesperson could not be reached.

A national event, not tied to one district.
