Electoral Commission says it has raised Kyagulanyi's detention with authorities and warns candidates over guidelines

Electoral Commission chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi said in a statement that the Commission had taken up the arrest of candidate Kyagulanyi with the relevant authorities and appealed to the public to stay calm. The statement asked candidates who had suspended campaigns to notify the Commission officially and warned that continued violation of the campaign and COVID-19 gathering rules could lead to cancellation of campaign programmes.
