Electoral Commission sets accreditation criteria for 2026 election observers

According to the Daily Monitor, EC spokesperson Julius Mucunguzi said applicants for accreditation to observe the 2026 General Election must stay non-partisan, follow the law and the EC's code of conduct, meet their own costs, show prior observation experience and submit a final report. He said applications were still being reviewed and that only successful applicants would receive the guidelines. EC chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama said both national and international observers would be accredited.
