Engineer Moris Thibenda denies receiving Shs3.7bn from URC capacity building project

Corruption & Abuse of Office Verified Uganda (national) 4 Aug 2026 Severity: 1/5

In a letter dated 4 August 2026, engineer Moris Thibenda denied allegations raised during Parliament's physical infrastructure committee probe into Uganda Railways Corporation that he received about €864,000 (about Shs3.7 billion) from URC's Capacity Building Project. He said he was an employee of the Spanish contractor Consultrans, not of URC; URC management has said all project funds were paid directly to the contractor in Spain.

A national event, not tied to one district.
