Minister of State for Finance Henry Musasizi tabled the Excise Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in Parliament, according to ChimpReports. The bill proposes UGX 3,500 per litre or 80%, whichever is higher, on certain imported un-denatured spirits, and UGX 1,000 per 50kg bag of cement, adhesives, grout, white cement or lime, from 1 July 2026. Musasizi said the changes reflect economic realities, while unnamed industry players warned of higher costs.
