Financial Intelligence Authority says it is monitoring election financing and has found no illegitimate inflows

Financial Intelligence Authority executive director Samuel Were Wandera said the authority and other government agencies had stepped up surveillance of financial transactions to detect illegal election financing ahead of the 2026 polls. He said the FIA had not seen illegitimate election-related inflows and that no politician had so far been implicated. He spoke at an end-of-year service at the FIA offices in Nakasero, Kampala, according to the Daily Monitor.
