Foreign Affairs Ministry says EU was invited and accredited to observe 2021 elections

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement denying media reports that the European Union had not been invited to observe the 2021 general elections. According to the ministry, diplomatic missions were invited in December 2019 and July 2020, and the EU replied that it would carry out a 'Diplomatic Watching Exercise' and asked for accreditation of its diplomats and of members of an Electoral Expert Mission.
