According to The Independent (URN), four Ugandan farmers whose land was acquired for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline filed a lawsuit in the UK High Court against EACOP Ltd, a UK-registered company, through the law firm Leigh Day. Their lawyers said the claim relies on Ugandan constitutional, environmental and climate law and seeks an injunction stopping the pipeline from operating, while claimants alleged loss of land, inadequate compensation and damage to water sources. The court will first decide whether it has jurisdiction.
