Government defers granting of new mineral rights, licences and permits for one month

According to the Daily Monitor, the government temporarily deferred the granting of new mineral rights, licences and permits for one month with immediate effect. Energy Minister Dr Monica Musenero said the pause is meant to assess existing licences and strengthen the licensing framework; renewals, export permits for value-added minerals and sample exports are exempt.
