Health Minister Aceng presents National Drug and Health Products Authority Bill, 2025 to Parliament's health committee

Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng appeared before Parliament's Committee on Health to present a bill that would replace the National Drug Authority with a new National Drug and Health Products Authority with a wider regulatory mandate. According to The Independent, the minister said the 1993 law needs updating and that the reform is meant to help Uganda reach WHO Maturity Level 3; committee members raised questions on enforcement, overlap with UNBS and the authority's independence.
