High Court declines request to move Besigye from Luzira Prison to hospital of his choice, adjourns treason trial

High Court Judge Emmanuel Baguma turned down a defence request to have opposition figure Dr Kizza Besigye transferred from Luzira Prison to a medical facility of his choosing, saying he had seen no indication that his health concerns could not be handled at Luzira. Defence lawyers had objected to a Zoom hearing requested by prison authorities over Besigye's reported ill health. The judge adjourned the treason trial of Besigye, Hajji Obeid Lutale and Capt Dennis Oola to 24 February 2026 so the accused could appear in person, according to the Daily Monitor.
