High Court directs security agencies to finish inquiries into whereabouts of Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi before habeas corp

According to The Observer, the High Court directed security agencies to conclude investigations into the whereabouts of former Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi before ruling on his application for a writ of habeas corpus. Kivumbi was reportedly abducted on 10 July at a police checkpoint in Mpigi after securing bail. In an affidavit, Assistant Commissioner of Police Godwin Tumugumye said police neither arrested nor detained him, although his vehicle was stopped at a checkpoint.
