Justice & Court Rulings Single source Uganda (national) 4 Jan 2026 Severity: 1/5

High Court judge Bernard Namanya dismissed an application by activist Aloyo Nyeko Omega seeking orders forcing the Electoral Commission to arrange voting for prisoners and to halt the elections until it did so. The judge ruled the matter res judicata, already decided in the 2020 case Kalali Steven v Attorney General and Electoral Commission, even though the applicant argued that ruling had not been implemented. No order was made on costs.

A national event, not tied to one district.
