High Court dismisses Nile Breweries bid to stop URA collecting Shs18.5bn in disputed taxes

The High Court Commercial Division dismissed with costs an application by Nile Breweries Limited to block the Uganda Revenue Authority from collecting Shs18.5 billion in VAT and excise duty, ChimpReports reported. Acting Judge Susan Odongo ruled the application res judicata because the same relief had been sought in an earlier application before Justice Susan Abinyo. The underlying tax appeal remains before the High Court.
