High Court registrar sends Besigye and Lutale list of State Brief lawyers to choose from

ChimpReports reports that a letter dated 14 July from the High Court Criminal Division's Assistant Registrar, on the trial judge's direction, instructed Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale to pick advocates from the State Brief register for their treason case. Defence lawyer Eron Kiiza said in a statement that the accused already had lawyers of their choice, urged State Brief advocates to decline, and alleged that defence lawyers had been obstructed through arrests, deportations and intimidation.
