Inspectorate of Government directs interdiction of URSB Registrar General Mercy Kainobwisho and three officials, reinsta

In a statement dated 26 October, the Inspectorate of Government said Justice Minister Norbert Mao had placed URSB Registrar General Mercy Kainobwisho and three senior officials on mandatory leave in August instead of interdicting them as instructed, and it directed the Ministry of Justice to enforce their interdiction while it investigates alleged abuse of office, money laundering and mismanagement. The IG also directed the URSB Board chairman to reinstate Commissioner Gilbert Agaba immediately. It said Agaba was not under investigation and that Mao had victimised him for making a protected disclosure.
