In a letter to the Inspector General of Police, Internal Affairs Minister Gen Kahinda Otafiire directed police commanders to stop the operation of roadside weighbridges urgently and move them to agreed places. According to ChimpReports, he cited a police investigation report of 7 November 2025 linking the weighbridges to sugarcane theft, and a Masindi district council resolution banning them.
