Internal Affairs minister signs regulations raising pay rates for prisoners' work

Uganda Prisons Service spokesperson Frank Baine told a press briefing that Internal Affairs Minister Jeje Odong had signed the Prisoners Amendment Regulations 2020, raising prisoners' daily pay from Shs 500, 250 and 100 to Shs 1,398, 699 and 280 for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled prisoners respectively. Baine said the new rates take immediate effect.
