Internal Affairs Ministry announces free visa extensions for travellers stranded by Middle East airspace closures

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 3 Mar 2026 Severity: 1/5

Internal Affairs Ministry spokesperson Simon Mundeyi told journalists in Kampala that foreign nationals stranded in Uganda by flight cancellations linked to the US-Israel-Iran conflict would have their visas extended free of charge, and that Ugandans cleared for departure but returned to Entebbe should report to immigration to cancel their exit records. He also urged labour export companies to stop sending workers to the Middle East for now. Immigration authorities estimated that 3,000 to 4,000 passengers were stranded at Entebbe International Airport.

A national event, not tied to one district.
