The EastAfrican reported that Vasundhara Oswal, main investor in an ethanol plant in Luwero, filed a human rights petition in the High Court on 10 February 2026 against six respondents, including senior police officers and the Attorney General. She alleges arbitrary arrest, detention beyond legal limits, extortion and mistreatment after her arrest in October 2024; police declined to comment and the allegations are unproven.
