Kagezi murder trial resumes at International Crimes Division after five-month funding halt

Justice & Court Rulings Verified Uganda (national) 25 Mar 2026 Severity: 1/5

According to the Daily Monitor, the trial over the 2015 killing of senior prosecutor Joan Kagezi resumed at the International Crimes Division of the High Court after a five-month pause the paper attributes to inadequate funding of the division. Police forensic officer SP Damian Serunjogi testified that suspect Daniel Kisekka confessed and led investigators to a shrine in Kitimbwa sub-county, while a former police officer now with Airtel Uganda presented phone data placing activity near the scene in Kiwatule; under cross-examination he said he could not identify the phone users.

A national event, not tied to one district.
