Kenya's DPP starts extradition proceedings against Chinese national wanted by Mukono court

According to a statement by Kenya's Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, extradition proceedings have been instituted against a Chinese national wanted in Uganda on 30 counts of forgery and one of theft, over about Shs4.5 billion allegedly taken from Diamond Steel Uganda Limited. The Kenyan ODPP said Uganda's request rested on an arrest warrant from the Mukono Chief Magistrates' Court, and that the suspect was arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on 11 August 2026. Kenyan prosecutors asked the court to remand him pending a ruling.
