Kira Municipality Mayor Julius Mutebi and NUP councillors join PFF after being denied NUP tickets

According to the Daily Monitor, Kira Municipality Mayor Julius Mutebi and a group of NUP councillors, mostly from Kampala and Wakiso, joined the People's Front for Freedom (PFF) at its offices days after NUP denied them tickets to seek re-election. Mutebi said the party never told him he had been dropped and that he learnt of it from the media; he said he would seek the PFF ticket for the Kira mayoral race. NUP spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi said members are free to join any party and that the party's vetting committee awarded tickets on merit.
