LC III and municipal division elections open late across Uganda amid low turnout

Uganda Radio Network reporters said voting in the LC III and municipal division elections started slowly in many districts, including Wakiso, Mukono, Kalungu, Jinja, Kumi and Arua, because too few voters arrived to witness the opening of ballot boxes. Materials reached many stations early, in contrast with the January polls, according to the reports. Officials and candidates attributed the low turnout to limited awareness and voter fatigue.
