The Uganda Local Government Workers Union said it agreed on 10 October 2025 to suspend its strike for three months from midnight on 13 October to allow dialogue with government, according to General Secretary Hassan Lwabayi. The decision followed a petition to Speaker Anita Among on 8 October and her call for striking workers to resume work, with a promise of parliamentary action on their grievances. Lwabayi described the decision as contentious.
