International Relations Verified Uganda (national) Jan 2026 (day not reported) Severity: 1/5

Members of the European Parliament wrote a letter saying that arrests of opposition politicians, a nationwide internet shutdown and restrictions on opposition activity brought the election process below democratic standards, according to the Daily Monitor. They called for an independent investigation into the election results and into reported killings and rights violations.
