According to the Daily Monitor, State Minister for Economic Monitoring Sandra Santa Alum, on an oversight visit to Otuke, directed the RDC and police to arrest Alangor councillor Christopher Atiko and recover Shs5 million. A relative of a 112-year-old beneficiary of the government cattle restocking programme alleged that the councillor registered as her next of kin, collected the money and left for Kampala; a case was reported at Otuke Central Police Station. The minister also said residents were renting out national identity cards to access Parish Development Model funds and directed security agencies to apprehend those involved.
